About the Journal
The Japan Society for Additive Manufacturing publishes Agora of Additive Manufacturing, an international open-access electronic journal. The name “Agora” derives from Ancient Greek, meaning “a public square,” reflecting our vision of creating a platform where diverse research findings and discussions related to additive manufacturing can converge. The journal welcomes original research articles from a wide range of disciplines—such as science, engineering, and art—as long as they are relevant to additive manufacturing (3D printing). Plans are underway to further develop the journal as a venue for sharing data and engaging in discussions within the additive manufacturing community.

Additionally, each article is assigned a DOI and is searchable through Google Scholar and other academic databases.
Submission Guidelines
- Eligibility: Submissions are welcome from both members and non-members.
- Language: Manuscripts may be written in either English or Japanese.
- Publication Format: The journal is open-access and electronic only (no print edition). Articles will be published on both the Society’s website and J-STAGE.
- Publication Fee: A flat fee of ¥20,000 for members and ¥40,000 for non-members, regardless of page length.
- Peer Review: All submissions undergo peer review by two expert reviewers.
- Copyright: Copyright is retained by the Japan Society for Additive Manufacturing. However, authors may reuse their work freely.
- Articles published from 2025 onward will be licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY 4.0) license.
- Other Notes: Dual submission is strictly prohibited. Authors are solely responsible for the integrity and originality of their work.

Peer Review Policy
- Review Format Agora of Additive Manufacturing adopts a single-blind peer review process. Reviewers are aware of the authors’ identities, but authors do not receive information about the reviewers.
- Reviewer Selection The editorial board selects reviewers with appropriate expertise based on the content of the manuscript. Reviewers evaluate the submission for originality, scientific accuracy, and logical consistency.
- Review Process Reviewers provide comments recommending acceptance, revision, or rejection. They may also offer specific suggestions for improvement. The editorial board makes the final decision on acceptance based on the reviewers’ comments.
- Conflict of Interest Reviewers must disclose any conflicts of interest to the editorial board and decline the review if necessary.
- Ethical Standards Reviewers are expected to provide fair and objective evaluations and to check for originality and possible plagiarism. Reviews influenced by personal bias or interests are not permitted.
- Confidentiality Reviewers must maintain strict confidentiality regarding all information obtained during the review process. The content and data of submitted manuscripts must not be shared with third parties without the authors’ permission, nor used for any purpose other than peer review.
